  • MSc Automotive product engineering, Cranfield University
  • PhD (Computational modelling of diesel engine smoke emission), Cranfield University

Research Interests

  • Fire Modelling
Development and validation of computer modelling methods for fire-related problems in building and transport applications spanning fluid dynamics combustion and heat transfer
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Using CFD codes both RANS and LES he has undertaken studies into modelling fire plumes including air entrainment and smoke movement in large spaces
  • Flame Spread Modelling and Toxic Species Prediction
Development and validation of flamelet-based models for prediction of flame spread and toxic products (smoke and carbon monoxide in particular)
  • Thermal Analysis of Structures
Heat transfer processes in fires including heat loss from fire plumes and the thermal response of protected steel and composite structures
